Job Qualification Requirements:
Must be a High School graduate; and Preferably have a minimum 24 months of work experience as a Child Care Worker in a childcare facility setting; must be able to meet the pre-hiring and post hiring qualification requirements for childcare staff as prescribed under Title 55, Sub-Chapter 55-40.1, § 55-40.1-226 of the CNMI Child Care Standard Rules and Regulation, which include the following:
(1) Must be of reputable and responsible character and shall not have a criminal history record, employment history or background which poses a risk to children in care. specifically:
a. Must have no conviction of a crime involving violence, alcohol or drug abuse, sex offense, offense involving children and any other conviction, the circumstances of which indicate that the applicant may pose a danger to children.
b. Must have no employment history indicating violence, alcohol or drug abuse and any other violation of employer rule or policy, the circumstances of which indicate that the applicant may pose a danger to children.
c. Must have no background information which shows that the applicant has been identified as and substantiated to be the perpetrator of child abuse or neglect.
d. For this purpose, all applicants must provide a current CNMI police clearance.
(2) Must be willing and able to annually participate in at least 30 hours of training as approved and monitored by the childcare licensing program and childcare development fund.
(3) Must be willing to undergo additional criminal background checks, once selected, and before being allowed to work or perform services at the daycare facility. such background checks shall include the following:
a. Fingerprint background check from any available CNMI government criminal database.
b. A fingerprint background check done on any available federal database as recommended by the FBI.
c. A criminal background check on the CNMI government child abuse and neglect registry.
d. A criminal background check on the national sex offender registry if the CNMI government has the capability of accessing this.
e. An annual CNMI police clearance.
(4) Must have good oral and written English communication skills. This is particularly necessary in preparing childcare licensing requirements on daily reports and observations.
(5) Must be knowledgeable with Microsoft word and excel.
(6) Must provide at least two (2) recommendation letters from previous employers, which must include a statement on work reliability, punctuality. attendance, and work ethics.
(7) Must provide at least two (2) letters of reference from non-family members.
(8) Must have first aid & CPR certificate (pediatric).
(9) must have tb clearance, health and food handler certificate.
(10) Post-hiring requirements: within 90 days from start of work: must complete and pass the 12 topics of pre-service trainings required by childcare development fund.
